Sandalwood (sustainable) – santalum spicatum Country of origin: Australia Distilled from the dried heartwood and roots, its tenacious sweet aroma with warm, woody and balsamic undertones. Sandalwood has many uses in both therapeutic and fragrance blends. It is generally non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitising but, as with all oils, usual caution should be applied. It is frequently used in high-class perfumery and an excellent fixitive in soaps. Along with rose, it is a key component in the popular Indian Aytar.
